Yaacob bats for code of conduct for online behaviour

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/yaacob-bats-for-code-of-conduct-for-online-behaviour.html

Freedom of expression neither entitles one to condemn nor step on another person's religious or racial beliefs or rights. Everyone has the right to follow their own beliefs, as long as their beliefs are not harmful to the rest of the society.

With the recent reports of Singaporeans posting insensitive comments about other religions, proper guidelines are certainly needed to ensure appropriate behaviour among Internet users.

However, the guidelines must be used only to educate the users on postings of religious or racial nature. The guidelines MUST NOT be used to curb discussions on topics like politics, lifestyle, education, etc.
